        西北师大附中国际教育服务中心海外大学申请文案部拥有一支由中外文书写作专家组成的团队,包括美籍文书专家顾问Joon,美籍文书专家顾问Matthew John,美籍文书专家顾问Megon Keating, 以及来自于西北师大附中教师、西安翻译学院、兰州交通大学、西北师范大学的教授、副教授等中文文书专家顾问。

    文案部负责人:王伟,硕士研究生,毕业于西北师范大学英美文学专业,西北师范大学附中国际部教师,目前教授SAT阅读、雅思写作等课程。其较为扎实的英美文化、文学知识背景是其指导海外大学申请文书工作的利器。在他看来,文书写作就是对申请学生某一特质的深度挖掘,是除了成绩要求外,对申请者综合素质的全满考量,包括:个人兴趣、个人优势、个人经历、个人团队协作能力、个人魅力、领导力、个人对申请学校的了解等。简单来说,一篇成功的申请文书,需要申请者紧抓细节,通过某个经历、某段故事展示自己的风采。

    文书专家顾问: Joon,纽约大学心理学专业毕业生,在其申请大学时,同时得到布朗大学和纽约大学录取通知书。他曾以国际教育咨询顾问身份赴韩国多所国际班指导学生文书工作并成功帮助20多名申请者成功拿到常春藤大学的多个录取通知书。2013年在西北师大附中担任英语教师,2014年6月参与师大附中国际班2015届学生文书申请咨询、指导工作,目前其指导的学生已有被芝加哥大学、杜克大学、西北大学、俄亥俄州立大学等世界知名大学录取。



    在其参与的名为“ Weekly Conference Speeches about American University and Essays" 会议中,他通过以下文章阐释了文书写作的精髓:

    Aristotle argued that the problem with education is teaching children the basics of logic without morality, losing a generation of what we call the “affectionate mind.” What I mean by morality is simply looking at the face of this imperfect world and ask “what is right and what is wrong?” A good essay always grapples with the conversation of morality rather than spew out facades of surface level logic that bores the audience. Let me give you a clear example by comparing two types of essays talking about community service, the first one is logic driven, the second is morally driven:

    Essay #1:

    In my high school, I have been an active leader in social welfare, passionately serving children in poor areas and working endlessly to improve education. I felt fortunate to be a part of this club and I learned to appreciate the value of helping others. In the future, I will continue to collaborate my efforts with others and revolutionize the trend of activism. 

    Essay #2:

    As I sat with little Jason, his eyes glimmered with hope when we solved the difficult math problem together. Injustice is not a choice; it is simply a lack of love in telling children that they truly matter in this world. I want to be a voice that only encourages, and if more people join the chorus, wouldn’t we live in what we call a truly civilized society?

    When comparing the two essays, what did you notice? Structurally, there is nothing wrong with the 1st essay, but it lacks specificity. The reason is because it only focuses on what you did as opposed to why you do it. Morality gives direction to our logic, and that is the very definition of a clear essay. Logic can only improve the structure of an essay, but morality gives the heartbeat that moves people to reflect. The 2nd essay challenges the audience to reflect on an important issue, and that is exactly what I require for my students to do. If you want to impress the University Admissions Officers, you must get rid of your obsession of logic, grammar, or organization, and radically start to think and write reflectively. Do not care what other people think about you. Teach and engage me with your own voice.  

    文书顾问: Matthew ,俄亥俄州立大学英文专业毕业。2014年9月参与2015届国际班学生文书核心部分 — “个人陈述”的审核、修订、定稿工作。在他看来,一篇成功的个人陈述应该有一个清晰的开头、主体部分、结尾。整个文章读来是流畅、易读、原创、认识深刻,同时语法、拼写要保证正确,但不必苛求过于精准。

    文书顾问:Megon Keating ,俄克拉荷马大学毕业,主修金融专业辅修美国历史。自2008年在中国教授英语写作。2014年9月参与2015届国际班学生文书核心部分 — “个人陈述”的审核、修订、定稿工作。在她看来,一篇成功的个人陈述首先应该紧扣文书题目,凸显申请者本人在整个陈述中的核心地位,细节支撑一切关于个人的经历。

    文案部职责与流程:

    1. 工作职责:根据学生相关申请学校文书题目要求,文案部安排文书中文指导老师与学生面谈、充分交流、深度挖掘以文书题目为中心的学生相关经历、认识、体验。根据讨论,中文老师给予学生写作指导、修改。之后英文顾问根据中文定稿与学生再讨论并进行翻译。鉴于海外招生官员对海外学生文书作假的了解、排斥,为了保证文书的真实,文书的创作者、执笔人是学生本人。

    2. 工作流程:文案部根据规划部给学生的定校情况,将提前查找、确定的文书题目交予学生,并安排中文文书顾问或文案部负责老师给予学生写作指导,并根据网申截止时间,规定上交汉语稿时间,之后我部有中文文书评审进行中文内容审核,随后我部安排英文文书顾问与学生讨论、并翻译,翻译稿由文案部负责老师及外教审核、修订、定稿,最后学生确认,由我部交予业务部上传文书。

    3.安排外教修订、审核文书。(所有在师大附中国际教育服务中心申请海外大学的学生,其个人陈述稿均经过汉语定稿、英文顾问讨论、翻译,外籍专家修订、审核。)

    4.文书撰写、修改、审核、定稿。我部负责学生大学申请个人陈述、小论文、推荐信的写作指导及文书翻译、校对,并会对部分学生所找中介的文书进行评估、修改、润色。(鉴于近几年不在少数的中介制作的文书质量低劣的事实,我部已经在做此工作。)

    5.文书整理归档。(每年文书工作于6月启动,次年4月结束,我部将在所负责学生全部文书工作完成后,对文书归档,以便为未来学生提供文书写作参考、指导。)
